Although logistics and transportation have a short history, it is emerging as a new field that will lead the 21st century. Businesses related to the competitiveness of the country are all related to logistics and transportation. When it comes to logistics transportation, there are a variety of businesses that are working to solve the traffic congestion that cities and regions experience on a daily basis. In addition, there are container terminals in the Yeosu and Gwangyang Bay Areas, the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone, Yeosu National Industrial Complex, and Yulchon Regional Industrial Complex. This department is the only department in Jeollanam-do established to cultivate the necessary personnel.

Ⅲ Course objective and curriculum
Course objective
The Department of Transportation and Logistics major operates a systematic curriculum to train transportation experts who have a wide understanding of the development planning, design, operation, and management of Social Overhead Capital (SOC) such as roads, railways, aviation and ports. This major provides an opportunity to acquire basic theories and professional skills in all transportation-related fields such as transportation planning, transportation operation, transportation safety, cargo transportation, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). The logistics major is a field that studies how to systematically plan, design, and efficiently manage complex logistics systems using scientific management techniques. Students majoring in the program acquire specialized knowledge related to corporate logistics, port logistics, international logistics, environmental logistics, and logistics information linked to local industries, and where the demand for manpower has recently increased. Efforts to foster Gwangyang Port as the central port of Northeast Asia and Yeosu, Suncheon, and Gwangyang have been designated as free economic zones, increasing the demand for manpower in the region. Additionally, as the logistics industry has been selected as a core strategic industry in Jeollanam-do, the number of students in transportation and logistics are expanding.
